Much of the value of Labyrinth Enterprises, LLC, rests in intangibles. There is a truck and trailer (see photo) and some tools, valued at around $30,000. The sale price of $250,000 is based on several conditions. First, the purchaser will get the name, history, and good will of Labyrinth Enterprises, LLC, which will give instant credibility. They will be able to say they have been in business since 1995, have made 1,000 labyrinths, etc. Further, as part of the sale, Robert will work with the purchaser for two years, transferring his knowledge and contacts, as well as ideas on how to grow the business even further. Robert will introduce the new owner to the labyrinth world, if not already so-identified. Most of all, despite the value of these intangibles, the sales price is extremely low considering any standard way of analyzing a business, such as using a multiple of annual sales or capitalizing the profit. In the long run, that would probably be more profitable, but I would prefer to have no restricting responsibilities during my retirement so that I will be free to travel, lecture, and do some writing.
