FRENCH BOOKS

Le labyrinthe un fil d'Ariane, by Myriam Philibert
This seems like a straight forward book on labyrinths. Like many French labyrinth books it doesn't clearly distinguish between labyrinths and mazes.

La Geometrie du Labyrinthe, by Patrick Conty
The inside cover, however, gives the title of the book as L'Esprit du Labyrinth. This book is available in English and is described in the Translated category.

Chartres: le Labyrinthe Dechiffre, by John and Odette Ketley-Laport
The author is an Englishman who lives in France, in the Loire Valley, and is crazy about labyrinths. He takes much of his information from the work of John James.

L'Universe Secret du Labyrinthe: Avec le Catalogue Illustre des 500 Labyrinthes Connus, by Paul de Saint-Hilaire
This book seems to be a somewhat philosophical approach to labyrinths. At the end there is a rather extensive listing of known labyrinths.

Le Labyrinthe de la Cathedrale de Reims, by Dominique Naert
This book is divided into two parts, a brief summary of labyrinths and then a discussion of the labyrinth originally in Rheims Cathedral ("Reims" in French), which was removed in the 18th century.

L'Histoire des Labyrinths, by Jean Macrez
Written by a sacristan at Amiens Cathedral who loves the labyrinth. Only a few pages long. Available in Amiens at the cathedral bookstore.

L'enigma du labyrinth, by Jean Villette
I once translated this into English as I have great respect for Monsieur Villette, who died in 2005 after a distinguished career as an expert on Chartres Cathedral. Now it has been officially translated by Malcolm Miller, and is available in Chartres in either English or French.

Chemins de Sagesse Traite du Labyrinthe, by Jacques Attali
This book has been translated into English. See the Translated section.

Le Labyrinthe au Coeur de l'Homme et Inversement, by Dominique Aucher
This looks like a somewhat philosophicl consideration of labyrinths that I would really enjoy if I could understand French well enough.
